On May 23, 2026, the 2026 "iWalk" charity walking event, themed "Step Forward with Love, Walk Beside the Promise," successfully concluded at Changsha West Lake Park. Organized by the Hunan Sinocare Diabetes Indigence Foundation (Sinocare Foundation) and co-organized by partners including the National Clinical Research Center for Metabolic and Endocrine Diseases, the China Type 1 Diabetes Alliance, and Sinocare, the event brought together over 600 participants—including diabetes patients and their families, running clubs, volunteers, and corporate representatives—to walk in solidarity despite the rain.

Transforming Footsteps into Healthcare Support

The event commenced with an opening ceremony attended by representatives from the Hunan Provincial Civil Affairs Department, the Sinocare Foundation, the China Type 1 Diabetes Alliance, and the Changsha Charity Federation. Following the starting signal, participants embarked on a 5-kilometer course around the lake.

The 5km trail was designed as an interactive educational experience. Key mileage markers (1.30 km, 1.50 km, 2.33 km, and 3.67 km) featured diabetes management statistics and health insights. Along the route, 34 educational signboards and four interactive game zones introduced walkers to the "Five-Horse Chariot" diabetes care model (diet, exercise, education, monitoring, and therapy), aiming to reduce social stigmas surrounding the condition.

To provide tangible medical aid, the Sinocare Foundation linked course completion to a device donation initiative. For every participant who crossed the finish line, the foundation committed to donating 5 Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) to diabetes patients in need.

Additionally, 14 corporate partners—including Sinocare Biosensing, Li Auto, Xtep Running Club, Uni-President, ASUS, and Hunan Women and Children Hospital—supported a "Charity Bazaar" on-site, offering free health screenings and interactive public welfare experiences.

Addressing Community Needs and Dissolving Bias

At the finish line, a dedicated "iWalk For" wish wall allowed participants to share their goals and supportive messages, such as "iWalk For my parents" and "iWalk For stepping out of the shadows of diabetes." The initiative underscored the event’s ongoing mission: to ensure that individuals living with diabetes feel seen, understood, and supported.

Five Years of Ongoing Advocacy

Marking its fifth consecutive year, the "iWalk" initiative continues to evolve as a platform for public health education and corporate social responsibility.

"The core mission of 'iWalk' has always been to dissolve biases and clear up misunderstandings," stated Li Xinyi, Chairperson of the Sinocare Foundation. "We aim to empower individuals with diabetes to transition from hiding their condition to being proudly visible, transforming an isolated battle into a collective, community-led journey."

While the 2026 walk has concluded, the Sinocare Foundation remains committed to expanding its public health advocacy, utilizing fitness events, community education, and corporate philanthropy to foster a more inclusive society.
