CGM Real-Time Feedback Guides Elderly Diabetes Treatment: From "Hyperglycemic Crisis" to "Stable Target Achievement"
This paper presents a case of a 65-year-old newly diagnosed elderly type 2 diabetic woman with severe hyperglycemia, diabetic nephropathy, macrovascular lesions and dyslipidemia, who was admitted before cataract surgery. Guided by real-time CGM data, clinicians adjusted insulin pump doses and later switched to premixed insulin plus acarbose. Her average blood glucose dropped to 6.9 mmol/L and TIR rose to 91% with no obvious hypoglycemia. CGM enabled dynamic glucose tracking, precise medication adjustment and safe glycemic control, proving valuable for elderly diabetic patients with complications.
