iCan CGM Pediatric Study Published in the Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology

Sinocare announced the publication of pivotal pediatric clinical data for its iCan continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system in the Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology, a leading international peer-reviewed journal. The study reports an overall MARD of 8.89% in children and adolescents aged 2-17 years, with 100% of glucose readings falling within clinically acceptable error grid zones. The prospective, multicenter study enrolled 78 pediatric participants with diabetes across three clinical centers in China. Subjects wore two sensors on the abdomen, with device accuracy assessed against a laboratory venous blood glucose reference (Biosen C-Line, EKF-diagnostic GmbH) at three time windows: Days 1-2, 7-9, and 15-16. In a conservative analytical approach, results were reported for the poorer-performing sensor.

 

Key Results:

①MARD: 8.89% overall, with stable single-digit accuracy across the full 15-day wear period (Days 1-2: 8.65%; Days 7-9: 8.70%; Days 15-16: 9.30%).

②Error grid: 100.00% of data pairs in Zones A+B on both Consensus and DTS error grid analyses.

③Alarm performance: True alarm rates of 98.6% for hypoglycemia and 98.8% for hyperglycemia.

④Wear durability: Mean sensor life of 14.4 days with 92.0% of sensors reaching the full 15-day target. No device-related or skin-related adverse events were reported.

 

The iCan CGM system uses third-generation sensor technology based on modified glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) with a flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) cofactor. With over 500 participants across six completed clinical studies conducted in the United States, Europe, and Asia, the iCan CGM system is one of the most extensively clinically studied CGM platforms worldwide.
